I am at a spa convention right now and we all know how difficult it is to eat healthy when away from home. Most restaurants are not looking out for my health interests. How do I make excellent health decisions in a not so ideal environment?

First off I look through the menu before I sit down for a meal. Are there any healthy options on this menu?

#2 MODIFY. You are the customer and customer service is the restaurants specialty. Ask and you shall receive. For instance, if you order grilled chicken, ask for steamed  veggies on the side in substitute for the potatoes. If you order a salad, ask for olive oil and fresh lemon on the side instead of pre-maid dressing.

 

#3 Don't drink 30 minutes before or after your meal.

 

#4 Thirty minutes after the meal drink hot tea to help the digestion process.

 

Eating right while traveling CAN be done, you just have to make a conscious effort to be proactive and not reactive! 

 

"He who guards his mouth preserves his life. But, he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction."

Proverbs 13:3 

Ok, I know this scripture is intentded for us to watch what we say and not have loose lips, but don't you think that we could also preserve our lives if we guard our mouth from destructive emotional eating or excessive consumption? I beleive if we watch our lips and what we put in them we  can preserve our lives. Chew on that today.
