Leaving the World Behind For a Moment

journalingConstantly rushing throughout your day? Quickly moving from one task to the other?

Overwhelmed by what you have to do next? Distracted by the mistakes you have made? Here's a great way to unwind at the end of the day and do something positive for yourself... ...Journal. Journaling is a wonderful way to recognize the good things that happen to us every day and to help us sort through our feelings.  Many people think they do not have time to set aside to journal and write extensively about their thoughts and feelings.  But there are some very simple ways to journal without taking a lot of time out of your day.  Here are some of my suggestions:

-At the end of each day make a list of at least three things that you are grateful for and that brought you joy that day.  Even something as simple as not getting stuck in traffic, hearing from an old friend, or getting praised by your boss can be put on the list.

-Write down a person in your life that uplifts and encourages you and write down the things that they say to you or do for you that make you feel good.

-Write down a dream or a goal that you have.  This is not just something that you have on your to-do list for the next day, but something important to you that you hope to achieve.

-Sometimes when we are so busy throughout the day going from one thing to the next we just need to be reminded of something constant in our lives.  So start a sentence with “I believe that…” and write something positive that you know to be true in your life.

-Sometimes our own words do not seem to be the best ways for us to express ourselves.  If you are feeling this way try writing in song lyrics, a verse, or a poem that encourages you.

Remember that the journal is yours- you can write in any kind of format or about anything that you wish too.
