Fats for losing weight
A small amount of fat actually helps slow digestion!! Fats slow emptying of the stomach contents into the small intestines.

Our taste buds are trained from day one to prefer unhealthy fats. We learn to like unhealthy fats because of our exposure to them. There is good news though; we can retrain our taste buds to PREFER healthy food choices such as healthy fats.

Many fats are healthy, and you do NEED fat to be healthy. Fat is not all bad, it is actually good if you eat the right kind. A small amount of fat actually helps slow digestion!! Fats slow emptying of the stomach contents into the small intestines. Because your stomach stays full longer, you feel full, your appetite decreases, and you eat less. Second, a little fat helps keep blood-sugar levels stable. Because sugars are largely absorbed in the intestine, the fat-induced delay in the movement of food into the intestine means that sugars are absorbed more slowly. As a result, the level of sugar in the blood rises more slowly and doesn't peak as high. Evening out the peaks in the levels of sugar in the blood retards some of the aging arteries experience when blood sugar levels are high.

You should be eating unsaturated fats such as monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. You want to avoid saturated fats and trans-fats. Saturated fats can be found in red meats, dairy products, palm, and coconut oils, and to a lesser extent, poultry and other animal products. Saturated fats have a wealth of cautions in the areas of; cholesterol, aging arteries, heart disease, stroke, impotence, and aging. Saturated fats also impede your immune system, which can increase your risk of cancer and serious infections.

According to Real Age experts, you can retrain your palate in about eight weeks. They say to make small, gradual substitutions that slowly retrain your family's  taste buds.
